Join us for the NVC Power of Hope Radiothon!

This is your friendly reminder to tune in to the seventh annual NVC Power of Hope Radiothon on Oct. 11 and 12. You’ll meet amazing families like the Waldmans of Aberdeen!

For Keith and Jessica Waldman, life’s joy is their 1-year-old, Lawson.

“If I could, I’d have 10 more babies if they’d have his personality, because he’s just great,” Jessica said. “He really is one in a million and I’m very lucky to have him.”

Lawson loves to snuggle, but has energy to dance to every type of music and is best pals with his 3-year-old big brother, Easton. Lawson literally leaps into Easton’s arms and they giggle all day long.

But Lawson’s life didn’t start this joyously.
Before birth, ultrasound scans showed a large hole in his heart and tests revealed Down syndrome. Then, at 5 days old, Lawson was also diagnosed with leukemia.

Faced with so many challenges, his parents knew what they had to do. They let go of control and put their faith in the expertise of the specialists, nurses, therapists and others at Sanford Children’s, the region’s only Children’s Miracle Network Hospital.

“They treated him like their own,” Jessica recalled.

Above all, there were the incredible donors to Sanford Children’s Miracle Network.

The Waldmans relied on their generosity to help with travel expenses and meals as they traveled back and forth from Aberdeen to Sioux Falls.
“We honestly could not have done it without the Children’s Miracle Network,” Keith said.

On Oct. 11 and 12, remember to turn your radio to The Point 106.7, Pheasant Country 103.7 or Sunny 97.7 for more inspiring stories from local families. Tune in, open your heart and please give as generously as you can.
