Results Radio Cure Kids Cancer Radiothon: one for the record books

In just two days, our generous community, amazing sponsors, incredible volunteers and passionate Results Radio team came together for the 12th annual Results Radio Cure Kids Cancer Radiothon presented by Jerry’s Auto Sales, Inc.

The special event was a huge success — raising $367,328, which is $37,751 more than last year and the largest year-over-year increase ever!

“We are so blown away by everyone’s support,” said Erin Sanderson, development manager for Sanford Cure Kids Cancer. “Our community stepped up to the plate to make this our best year yet for our local pediatric cancer heroes.”

Every dollar will stay local to help kids fighting cancer through Sanford Cure Kids Cancer.

Here are some event highlights:

  • Adding KXRB 100.1 FM as the fifth radio station. This was the first time five radio stations set up and broadcast the radiothon live from Sanford Children’s.
  • Welcoming Minnesota Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph. He spoke on-air with all radio stations and met several pediatric cancer heroes and their families.
  • Watching the third annual “Pushups 4 Pledges,” a competition between Ben Sahr, pediatric cancer hero, and Dr. Dan Steventon, a Sanford pediatric cancer physical therapist. For the second time in his life, Ben is actively battling Ewing Sarcoma, so Dr. Sam Milanovich, Sanford pediatric oncologist, made a guest appearance to tag Ben out from his push-up duties. All together, this unique challenge raised nearly $10,000.
  • Auctioning a one-of-a-kind David Garibaldi canvas masterpiece. The artwork was painted during the KISS concert on March 6 in Sioux Falls and featured the four band members. The winning bidder won the artwork for $7,500 as an in-kind donation to the radiothon.
