Run for the kids during the Sioux Falls Marathon

It’s time to lace up your running shoes, tour the streets of Sioux Falls and support Sanford Children’s Miracle Network. Join us for the Sioux Falls Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K & Miracle 5K on Sunday, Sept. 8!

The marathon, half marathon and 10K races will start and finish in the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center. The Miracle 5K will start outside of the venue near Madison Street and Western Avenue. You can check out the routes here.

Funds raised from the race will help kids like Avery, Sanford Children’s Miracle Network 2019 Champion.

Avery: beating the odds

It’s rare to see Avery Hill without a smile on her face. At just 4 years old, she’s outgoing, talks a mile a minute and loves high-fives almost as much as hugs.

She also fights for every step she takes and constantly works to beat the odds of cerebral palsy.

Avery was born nearly four months early, on October 25, 2014. After five days in the NICU, her doctors discovered she was suffering from two brain bleeds. Her future was uncertain.

But today her future looks bright. Diagnosed with spastic cerebral palsy, Avery constantly overcomes the odds: that she wouldn’t walk, talk or be able to function on her own. Her parents, Mindy and Jared, continue to celebrate even the smallest milestones.

“All of her improvements are definitely because of her,” Mindy said. “She has the can-do attitude and puts in the hard work. We just sit along the sidelines and cheer her on.”
